PEONY TEA PARTY - Join us Sunday June 15th from 1 to 4pm

Picture
Runaway Moon Theatre’s annual Peony Tea Party is a celebration of the season featuring an afternoon of live music by local performers, crafts, a maypole dance, homemade baking and refreshments, plus the opportunity to gather a beautiful bouquet of peonies to take home.  This event also serves as our annual fundraiser highlighted by our Silent Auction and Raffle.  Admission:  Adults $8, children (12 & under) $3, family $15.  It takes place at Curly Willow Organic Farm in Grindrod (click here for directions and contact info).

We are incorporated as a non-profit society and tax-deductible receipts can be issued for monetary donations.  Our community fundraising efforts and the hundreds of volunteers hours involved in our arts projects and productions are important to the arts agencies and foundations, both government and private, from which we receive funding.

Runaway Moon Theatre is an important part of the North Okanagan arts scene. Founded in 2001, our mission is to produce innovative theatre involving puppetry and to facilitate collaborative art projects between professional artists and the general public.

Last year we coordinated the annual Lantern Float in September, ran a one week In The Shade Arts Camp for children in Enderby, facilitated many arts projects as part of our Calendarios project, and presented A Small Miracle before Christmas in downtown Enderby with the gracious help of Enderby Jewellers, Mel’s Mainstreet Pizza and Marketplace IGA.  Our Artistic Director Cathy Stubington also collaborated with Splatsin historian Rosalind Williams to create the Backpack Kids, sets of life-sized child puppets to give young children experiences with various cultures.

Tuwitames
This year, in addition to our annual events & various arts initiatives, from August 6th to the 10th we will be presenting a community performance of “Tuwitames” in collaboration with the Splatsin Language and Culture Program.

Directed by Splatsin historian Rosalind Williams and Theatre Director/playwright James Fagan Tait, the play shares teachings and values from Secwepemc culture through stories both traditional and contemporary. The story follows the journey of a young person in modern day, returning home to find out about his connection to the land and people.

Performers of all ages will take part in the performance and in the making of costumes, puppets and other elements created for the sharing of the stories.

Dates:  August 6th – 10th, 2014
Place:  Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn (Childcare and Language Centre), Canyon Road
Turn off the highway at SuperSave; parking lot at right.

If you would like to be part of the performance, or help out in any way, please contact Rosalind or Cathy at 250-838-6404 ext.2, or email info@runawaymoon.org

Also,
we will be looking for billets for four people for four different time periods leading up to Aug 6th - 2 1/2, 4, 5 and 6 weeks.  There is a fee paid for providing these billet spaces.

"Who is in the Woods?" Summer Arts Camp
Our annual Summer Arts Camp for children (usually called "In the Shade") this year is called "Who is in the Woods?" and it is at Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn, most probably July 2-5 (but possibly 7-11).  It will be an exploration of the woods outside of the Centre (which is a fenced in wooded area).
