Runaway Moon Theatre presents...
How Did You Get Here? - New Performances June 2nd and 3rd
Runaway Moon invites you come and enjoy the third installment of “How Did You Get Here?” mini-theatre performances. This time, Mia Brooks, Hazel Tiefenbach, Rhiannon Galanta, Beverley Peacock, and Julia Armstrong will tell about how they got here, and we will also welcome guest dance artist Martine Cardinal.  Visiting puppeteer Tim Gosley is helping to direct the mini-theatre shows, along with Cathy Stubington and Lorna Tureski.

On Saturday June 2 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday June 3 at 2:30 pm, join us at Curly Willow Farm at the end of Tomkinson Road in Grindrod. (The performance is intended primarily for adults but children are welcome to come with an adult.) While you are here, you can visit the Puppet Museum, and perhaps pick a bunch of peonies – these days we never quite know when they will bloom! Entrance is by donation.

“How Did You Get Here” is a growing collection of stories, each told in a different way by a different person in answer to that question. We are developing more and more of these stories, through which we will gain a special understanding of what it means to live here now.  We have a list of people who have signed up and look forward to hearing their answers. Please let us know if you’d like to take part!
We are grateful to the Canada Council for the Arts for making this project possible.

Learn to walk on stilts and become a bird - Sunday May 27 in Salmon Arm
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly like a bird? Well, now is your chance.
Runaway Moon, SABNES (Salmon Arm Bay Nature Enhancement Society), and SSS (Save SHuswap Songbirds) are encouraging adults and youth to find out what may be like to be a bird.
The first step is to learn to walk on stilts (not nearly as hard as it looks.) Then, choose a local bird to embody - learn their habits, movements, and voice. Then, wear a mask and wings (which you can help make).
When we have a flock, we'll make plans to represent our region in a huge Bird Migration Parade in Vancouver this August - which Runaway Moon co-producing, in conjunction with the International Ornithological Congress (see birdsonparade.com) . We will also welcome ground birds (i.e. not on stilts!); and, look out for an opportunity to become a kayaking waterfowl!
This Bird Stilt Chorus grows out of past projects in Enderby and in Vernon with the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. In Salmon Arm, we would like to focus on Songbirds!
Aidan Sparks and Leif Saba will be leading a first stilt walking lesson on Sunday May 27th at 4 PM, by the Brighouse Nature Centre: SABNES building near the wharf in Salmon Arm. If you're interested in taking part, please contact us at info@runawaymoon.org , or talk to Aidan Sparks or to Janet Aitken of SABNES. We’d like to know how many are coming to this first session.
