Calendario Project

Work is ongoing on Calendario, a community arts project in partnership with the North Okanagan Food Action Society. Inspired by PRATEC, an organization in Peru working with communities on agricultural and cultural regeneration, we are going to create a large-scale calendar marking the activities and timing of the local farming year.

The first stage is to gather information from gardeners and farmers about what activities take place during which months, as well as the signs in nature that accompany the activities. From that first-hand information we will create a participatory art project that will be publicly available, either printed or on the web, when it's complete.

Watch the website and our Facebook page for more information about activities associated with the Calendario project.

Runaway Moon Peony Tea

THANK YOU EVERYONE

On Sunday June 12th we held a wildly successful 10th Annual Peony Tea fundraiser for Runaway Moon Theatre at Curly Willow Farm. Although the peonies were a little late because of the cool spring, there were still enough flowers and half-open buds to satisfy keen peony lovers.

This year there were two popular hands-on art activities (seed art and hat decorating) for all ages, and posters, peony tea-shirts, and aprons for sale. As always, our silent auction donors were most generous - THANK YOU!

Outstanding live entertainment by Popoleko Balkan choir, One Camel Short, Dick Owings and Willy Gaw, Kristi Christian and her dancers, and young musicians Hana and Amy Friedman were the focal point of the afternoon. THANK YOU for your professionalism and generosity.

THANK YOU to those who donated items and baking, to the preparation and cleanup crews and to farmer Doug Saba for allowing us to invade his work space. And a huge THANK YOU to the many who came to the farm, more than ever before, to share the flowers, the food and the festive atmosphere
