HISTORY

Runaway Moon Theatre was formed in March 2000 in Enderby, a small town of about 5000 people in the interior of B.C. Founding Artistic Director Cathy Stubington has pursued the development of a distinctive multi-layered style of theatre with a variety of associate artists. Twenty years of production and exploration in puppetry through Picardi Marionette Theatre in Montreal, a series of productions at the Caravan Farm Theatre in nearby Armstrong, BC, and several other collaborative projects in the province were all important in its development.

Cathy has been creating puppet theatre for over 25 years. She has written for family audiences for Runaway Moon Theatre: “Anouska and Rosa Go to Find the Sun” 2000 and “The Faerie Play” 2002 (with Lois Anderson), “The MAIZE Show” 2003 and “ENOUGH is ENOUGH” Community Shadow Play 2004 (with James F. CURLY WILLOW FARM

Runaway Moon Theatre is located on Curly Willow Farm, a 5 acre working organic vegetable farm located in Grindrod, BC. The farm produces asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, garlic and a variety of seasonal and storage vegetables for sale in the North Okanagan and Shuswap areas.

PUPPET MUSEUM

Runaway Moon Theatre operates a small puppet museum on the farm housing hundreds of puppets, masks and set pieces from over thirty years of puppet theatre across the country. The Museum is open during productions, by appointment, and by chance.
